They should not leave DC until they get us a border bill and no we are not

waiting until the general election to do this and it's irresponsible to say that

Congress has to wait until a general election because Trump is worried

that he's going to lose. There's a lot of reasons we got to worry Trump's going to

lose, but you don't sacrifice national security to do it.

If you check what I've said since 1995, I'm consistent on the border, which is I don't

think the first thing somebody should do when they come into America is break the law. I think we should

have equity in our immigration policy. I love immigrants in America just like

Ronald Reagan did. I love them legal and I love them from all over the world.

So a strong southern border has always been critically important to me and that's why I agree

with the Wall Street Journal editorial page which just says it straight.

I mean Donald Trump is talking about this bill being stupid. He's a liar. In this case, as in so many other cases, it's not stupid. He knows actually it's the

smart thing to do. It's the right thing to do. It's right for America and he knows it.

And I know a lot of Republicans are against it because Donald Trump is against it.

But here's the problem for you guys. The Border Patrol

Union came out and the acting CBP chief both came out and said they're not it's not

perfect but this is the best thing we've seen in decades. So are Republicans going to say that the Border Patrol Union and the acting CBP chief are wrong?

Well, look, they can have their perspective, Steve Steve and we've got a lot of

jobs Tom well and it's our job to actually make sure the laws will accomplish

what we're seeking to do.

How his Republican colleagues who helped him get this together

are now turning on him and going the other way in the service of Donald Trump.
