All right, folks, welcome back to another episode of the Human Performance Outliers podcast.

0:15.2

I'm your host, Zach Bitter, and today I have a guest interview episode for you.

0:20.0

So today's guest is Professor Paul Larson.

0:23.5

Professor Paul Larson is someone who I have been curious about getting on the show for quite

0:28.3

some time now. Actually, it was probably over two years ago at this point. I had Dr. Dan Ploos come

0:35.0

on the show and Dr. Dan Plouse is equally interesting to me for the similar

0:40.3

reasons. He has a performance lab in New Zealand and has just been really interesting to follow

0:49.0

when it comes to both endurance performance, performance testing, as well as applications for low carbohydrate

0:57.7

diet. And, you know, Dan has done everything from setting the age group world record at

1:03.7

the Kona Ironman World Championships to coaching some high caliber athletes. And before he started doing all that on his own, he and Paul Larson did a lot together,

1:16.7

a lot of research and a lot of content around endurance training, fueling and things like that.

1:23.0

So I wanted to get him on the show to share kind of what his insights are with the athletes he's

1:28.8

working with, what he's doing from a training standpoint, feeling standpoint, things like that,

1:32.8

and just try to wrap my head around, like, what he's up to and see if there's any nuggets in

1:37.9

there that I personally can use with, you know, my own low cover hydro approach. So hopefully

1:42.3

those of you who are listening who are both interested in endurance, as well as some of the nutritional aspect to it, will enjoy this one.

1:49.6

Just some of the background on Professor Paul Larson. He's an author, endurance coach,

1:54.8

high performance consultant, technologist, and entrepreneur. He's the co-founder and CEO of

2:00.2

Hit Science, co-founder and head of product for

2:04.0

Athletica, co-host of the Training Science podcast, former lead physiology for New Zealand

2:11.1

Olympic athletes and adjunct professor of exercise physiology at Auckland University of
