The other person I want to talk about is Ichikawa Fusai.

She was born in Aichi Prefecture along the Pacific Coast of Japan in 1893.

Her family were farmers from a mid-sized town outside Ichinomiya.

They were, by all accounts, fairly prosperous as farmers.

At minimum, they could afford to send their daughter to school. So that suggests the family had enough wealth to both pay tuition
