Summary

Father and daughter hiking partners, Kayla and Ken Bold, came to the Appalachian Trail with Ken originally intending to hike just a section in support of his daughter. As often happens, those plans changed, and they headed north together as a team.

Each learned something about the other, with their familial bond strengthened along the way.

0:57.3	Yet today we have another couple, but this time it's a father and daughter, Nugs and Kembo.
1:02.6	They hadn't originally planned to hike the whole thing together, yet that's pretty much how
1:06.4	their trip went. They're going to be on shortly. Our rapidly dwindling Mighty Blue Class of 2022,
1:13.2	I really hope that this wasn't a curse for them, leaves us with just three people currently on
1:19.1	trail, with Chuck Hayes waiting on his son to join him before he progresses again.
1:24.5	So this week I called up with Dan Whitesides, or trumpet, who is very jollily
1:29.3	pushing forward with his husky dog Frankie. And when you hear Dan, you cannot fail to be impressed
1:35.5	by his attitude. Dan will be on just after Nugs and Kembo. After Dan, we're catching up
1:41.5	with the woman we followed last year. Katie Wessling is finishing off the 500 or so miles she didn't finish last year.
1:48.4	As ever, Katie's joy to talk with.
1:51.2	Finally today, I've got to tell you, I didn't realize how long this Joida was going to be.
1:56.6	But we've got the second part of Chapter 3 of Then the How Came by George Stephanus.
2:02.0	And even then, I don't think I've finished the chapter.
2:04.8	This is a long book.
2:06.7	But I think it's such a, I don't know, incisive story that I think I'm going to just swim
