It's important not to sort of turn this into a tribal, us versus them, corporate people are evil

and we are the sort of brave new future kind of dialectic.

Because honestly, there's some serious hypocrisy in that kind of stance because what do you do?

You go put up your website, park yourself in Bali, and the first thing you do is go cold call

and pitch half a dozen Fortune 500 companies

and ask for gigs, right?

words of a description of a recent writing project he completed called Breaking Smart. Today's guest,

if you haven't already guessed, is Venkatesh Rao, the author of Ribbonfarm.com. That's a blog that

started back in 2007. And it's a little bit difficult to describe, but I'd say it's a philosophy blog about

technology and entrepreneurship and making on the internet and whatever this is that's

happening right now because of the internet that we're all doing.
