This is Episode 32, the oldest English.

Over the past few episodes, we've looked at the gradual conquest of southern and central

Britain by the Anglo-Saxons.

This time, we're going to begin looking at the Anglo-Saxons in the years at the end,

or near the end of the conquest.

By the end of the 6th century, the Anglo-Saxons had established several independent kingdoms

throughout southern and central Britain, and they were speaking a common language.

So in this episode, we'll look at these earliest Anglo-Saxon kingdoms, and their language,
