Summary

Dan from Nam is one of the most polite, diplomatic, energetic, positive forces in profession cycling -- not to mention he’s a two time Olympian. Amid a hectic two weeks at the Dartmouth Tuck School of Business Next Step program, Ted and Dan sat down and instituted their own happy hour to make this podcast a reality. This duo shares a variety of similarities in life which they tap into on today’s pod. From studying economics to joining professional cycling later in life to having a penchant for the entrepreneurial side of life with budding businesses and literally being born just one day apart, these two are like long lost twins. This conversation explores Dan’s rise through professional cycling, how he made the leap from Namibia to the World Tour, the fluid and fascinating state of gravel, plus his upstart company, Pangolin, and much more. This podcast is presented by iKOR. iKOR provides the highest quality, most effective full spectrum hemp extract products available, allowing you to have your best day possible. One of the things that I feel people do not realize about pro cycling, if you meet a professional who has never been a top performer but has been in his sport for many years, you will probably think he's a really nice guy.

0:24.9

And there's a reason for that,

0:27.8

because the job I did as a professional cyclist

0:32.2

was usually as a domestic.

0:35.5

Which means there were many people, many of my peers, who could have very easily done the same

0:42.4

job I was doing for the same pay. Why did I get the job? Well, that's maybe a bad example

0:50.3

talking about myself, but why did certain guys get the job? Because they were pleasant to be

0:55.6

around. And so why pick that guy over that guy when they can both do the same job? That guy's a nice

1:03.1

guy. That guy makes his team spirit good. And he lifts up other guys. And even if he has a bad day,

1:15.4

he deals with it in a way that it doesn't, like, ruin the whole team spirit.

1:21.4

Now, what you see from the outside when you're watching TV, heat of the moment, you might never know these things.

Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to King of the Ride podcast. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to King of the Ride podcast is right. Now this actually

1:42.4

struck me only today, given that the 2019 zero has recently

1:46.4

kicked off, and Peter Sagan is back to his winning ways at the Tour of California.

1:51.8

It was just one year ago that I was launching K-O-T-R, King of the Ride, which was prefaced with some

1:58.8

lively Ziro and Tour of California race analysis,

2:01.9

kick-starting our very first episode.

2:04.3

So I'm pleased as punch to also announce that I recently received notification

2:09.2

with more reason to celebrate, saying that we have more than 100,000 downloads here on KOTR.

2:17.1

Thank you. I mean it. Thank you. Thanks for listening.

2:22.7

Thanks for being part of this ride. Thanks for continuing to spread the word as we launch into,

2:29.5

I don't know, is it season two? I've never quite understood the concept of seasons in media and TV shows and podcasts.
