Culture writer Dan Callahan who is an exceedingly talented individual and he has a new book out with a very unwieldy title

but it's called Bing and Billy and Frank and Ella and Judy and Barbara and it's

basically about the sort of peak period of the Great American songbook and its practitioners

and it's also about how these artists' lives and careers intersected in

surprising and unpredictable ways.

So, you know, if you are somebody who loves this kind of music the way I do,

or just, you know, 20th century pop culture in general, I highly recommend you pick up this book. It's

super readable and just kind of a compulsive page turner with lots of just nuggets of

info you didn't know that you never knew and and like albums you will want to chase down if you don't already have them in your

collection.
