317 Battle of the Pockets Part 1. Last time, we covered General Homus attempt to get

around MacArthur's latest defensive line that went from Begak on the west coast to Orion

on the east about halfway down the Patan Peninsula. These amphibious landings along the west

coast behind the Allied line called the Battle of the Points went on from January 22 to February

8. And by the time it was all over, the invaders had lost most of two battalions with practically

nothing to show for it. Meanwhile, with the Japanese barges shoving off, the main Japanese

body would come crashing against the Defender's new line. Surely one of these attacks would

back to Manila Bay. What had set up this latest defensive line by the Allies was when their

back on January 23, the new line would be along the only road that cut Patan in half

running horizontally from Begak again on the west coast to Pilar on the east right above

Orion. MacArthur expected all the units to be in their new positions by January 26.
