0:26.4	it's a continuation of the Sylvia Odeo story. Part 6. By 1976, public pressure and new revelations
0:35.9	about the dark intelligence operations of the 1960s
0:39.4	forced Congress to reopen the investigations into the murders of President Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.
0:48.3	This new body was, of course, called the House Select Committee on Assassinations, or the HSC.
0:55.5	One of the brilliant investigators, one that you've heard much about on previous episodes of
1:00.1	JFK, the Enduring Secret, was Gaiton Fonzie. Fonzie, working for the HSCA, looked at the original
1:09.0	FBI files and the Warren Commission handling of Sylvia Odeo.
1:13.4	And when he did, he was astounded.
1:16.4	He would later write that the Odeo incident absolutely cries conspiracy.
1:22.3	The HSC decided that they were going to dig deep on this one.
1:26.7	They wanted to track down Sylvia,
1:28.7	her family, her doctors, and the mercenaries that the FBI had used to dismiss her. But when the
1:35.8	committee reached out to Sylvia Odeo, they ran into a wall of deep distrust. Sylvia had been
1:43.0	burned. She told the investigators that it was obvious to her
1:46.8	the Warren Commission had never wanted to believe her story. A committee memo noted her
1:53.1	demeanor was one of sharp distrust of the government's motives and that she felt she had been
1:59.5	used by the Warren Commission. However, after building a
2:03.8	rapport, Sylvia agreed to cooperate. And this time, she wouldn't just be giving an interview
2:10.2	to a dismissive FBI agent. She would be testifying under oath in an executive session.
