Two U.S. officials tell NBC News,

American drones have been operating above the territory

since the Hamas terrorist attack on October 7th.

The drones are being used to try to locate hostages taken by Hamas.

Israel's military says there are more than 240 of those hostages being held captive inside Gaza.

The New York Times first reported the story citing flight data on the publicly accessible

tracking website Flight Radar 24. Many of the hostages are believed to be held in the vast network

of tunnels underground Gaza that are integral to Hamas operations. As Richard mentioned,

Secretary of State Blinke is on the ground in Israel.

He's expected to ask Prime Minister Netanyahu for some measure of restraint, not a ceasefire,

but a humanitarian pause.

Then he'll go on tomorrow to Jordan,

where he will hear that Israel needs to stop what it's doing,

that it needs to pull back entirely.

So what is the line he's walking there?

And what are the options on the table here between a ceasefire, a

humanitarian pause, and everything else that's being discussed?

The Jordanians have removed their ambassador from Israel.
