Summary

I was introduced to Bonita Curtner, otherwise known as Mother Goose, by a listener. Bonita is something of an overachiever when it comes to racking up hiking miles. She is closing in on 50,000 miles. She also says the last 2,000 have been the toughest!

We had a few tech difficulties getting recorded, but the story was worth the effort. Bonita didn't share any links or social media, but she shared her knowledge and wisdom, both of which are far more important.

We also caught up with Chuck on his progress. He was at Hot Springs on March 8.

Also, Hugh and Kerry Ickrath were about to head out on their platinum blazing trail!

Hi guys, thanks for joining me while I'm actually on a break from the show.

This is Mighty Blue on the Appalachian Trail and I am Mighty Blue or Steve Adams. This episode is coming out on March the 17th and according to my spreadsheet, Dana and I will be staying with dear friends of mine in Cornwall in the south-west of England. With a bit of luck, we will have seen about 30 members of my family for lunch on Sunday,

1:00.4

had dinner with old workmates the evening before, seen other old friends and visited Windsor Castle and Stonehenge. Also, last night, Wednesday, we stayed at Thornbury Castle near Bristol in

1:06.5

the Henry VIII Suite. Apparently, Henry and Embellin stayed there in 1535.

1:14.3

Blumby, I hope they changed the sheets. So, bit away, I've been podcasting like a demon,

1:19.3

front-loading about 20 or 30 episodes of all our live hiking radio network shows so that service

be individually thanking our donors because, of course, I'm away. This week we have a woman on

the show who has hiked about 10 times as far as I have, and I've done about 5,000 miles. Benida

Kirtner or Mother Goose was introduced to me by a listener, Barbara Smith.

Barbara knew that I'd be interested in talking to Benita,

1:52.2

and technical difficulty is notwithstanding, we were eventually able to record over Skype.

1:56.8

That sounds not perfect, but a story is so compelling that I'm sure you won't mind.

2:00.8

After Benita, we have two recaps from our class of 2022.

2:04.6

First up, the unlikely couple of Hugh and Kerry at Cress.

2:10.9

If you recall Hugh and Kerry a hike in the AT this year in so far as they can, Platinum Blazing style.

2:17.4

The level of detail that they are implying to make it as comfy as possible is, frankly, mind-boggling.

2:21.6

The fact that the two of them are their own comedy duo is more than a plus.

2:26.9

As you're going to hear, Hugh is the most diligently caring husband, and Kerry is hilariously funny about her anticipation of the trip.
