0:38.0 | Uber charges more when demand is high based on the idea that this is going to draw more drivers into the pool |

0:45.0 | Now this makes perfect sense from the point of view for traditional economists, |
0:49.0 | but you're a behavioral economist and you must know there's something about |
0:53.0 | charging different prices for the same products that rubs customers the wrong way. |

1:02.0 | As you can imagine, I hear over and over again, both at my dinner table and at family gatherings |
1:07.0 | that surge pricing can feel very unfair to customers. |
1:11.0 | But it's been a really integral part of Uber's success precisely because |
1:16.0 | the whole goal of the company was to replace a really frustrating experience with taxi, |
1:22.0 | with service that's just ultimately reliable. |
