Hey there, this is Phil. Welcome to this week's show. We actually recorded a

0:05.2

podcast on Thursday night that was supposed to play today being Tuesday and it

0:13.7

was a pretty good podcast. We talked about current events and had witty banter

0:20.3

and such but I finished editing it late Thursday night and then Friday morning

0:26.7

something happened in Connecticut at an elementary school that made it seem

0:32.4

less appropriate to air the show. We had just recorded, made the witty banter and

0:39.9

the the light conversation a little less fitting, I think. So I came into the

0:49.0

studio today to record a different show because the events of the week seem

0:58.8

that they need addressing and you know what I'm talking about the school

1:01.8

shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut that took the

1:07.3

lives of 26 and seven year olds and six adults, all women. And a lot of people,

1:26.4

their logos and their graphics packages for the tragedy. So the tragedy media

1:34.6

complex is up and running as usual. And a lot of people are immediately going to

1:42.5

say you know well here's the solution of course it's either it's gun control

1:47.2

or no it's making families stronger or no it's you know putting prayer back in

1:52.0

schools or no this is it it's better mental health assessment you know there's

1:58.6

a zillion people with a zillion different ideas about why this sort of thing

2:03.1

happens and and how to prevent it from happening and that's not really what I

2:07.2

wanted to talk about. I thought what was interesting was the contrast between

2:14.4

the events of last Thursday or last Friday morning in Connecticut and the
