So for this first episode, we have a lot to get through because it is both Eid and

Hudge this week.

So we're going to call up Saraj Dattu and talk to him about going to Hodge for the first time,

which he's documenting in his podcast, The Pilgrimage.

And then we're going to talk to Basa Musmani about Zabija slaughter and how it feels to kill an animal,

which I killed an animal for the first time this summer while I was on break.

So this is also another important time of the year for Muslims, which is Hudge,

which is a several-day pilgrimage to Makkah, which has a lot of steps, which I'm not going to get

into right now. But it's like widely considered a life-changing experience, something that's

very difficult and grueling. And many people die, although, you know, like I've done it and I'm still

here. And you don't really know what it's like until you go. It's been 10 years for me, so I'm like, it's not very fresh for me. So I wanted to talk to somebody who it'll be fresh for. So we're going to call up Saraj Datu, who is going on his first hodge this year and is producing a podcast about it called The Pilgrimage.
