This week, we're broadcasting live from the Rabbit and Red Lounge discussing the 1978 horror classic Halloween.

The film was directed by horror icon John Carpenter with a script co-written by Carpenter

and the late Deborah Hill.

With a simple story and a limited budget, Carpenter and Hill drew inspiration from the proto-slashers that came before,

and crafted arguably one of the most iconic films in the horror genre.

Complete with indelible images, memorable performances, Carpenter's haunting, minimalistic score, and filled to the brim with suspense.

The film not only spawned a decades-long franchise, but it helped kickstart the slasher subgenre,

and the weight of its influence can be felt to this very day.

So, Halloween, what were your first impressions on the film?

Well, T, you already know that we were raised on this movie.

Like, seen it a million times. Our mom was obsessed with it.

So for that reason, I mean, I will always love this movie because I was almost raised to.

Like, I almost didn't have a choice.

Yeah.

This movie is like our birthright.

Honestly, I remember when, I can't remember what grade, but I had to be in elementary

school.

And my teacher was trying to show us how setting can set like the mood just by, you know, kind of what's going on without

anybody saying anything or anything. You can see, you know, how the filmmaker wants you to feel.
