Hello everyone. My name is Chip Payne and I am the Director for Lifestyle Christianity University.

I am here with Lance Wall now.

Lance just actually taught at LCU. I mean phenomenal and powerful impartation and teaching.

And we're here now. And what I want to try to do, Lance, is give you

an opportunity to talk about for us as Christians in this moment and time, in this age, how do

we engage culture?

Well, first of all, is to define what culture is. There's a lot of confusion on that. I remember once I got a text from Joseph Garlington, Bishop Joseph Garlington, it was probably 17 years ago, and I never answered it. It always bothered me because I was teaching on Seven Mountains, and he said, what's the definition of culture? And I really couldn't come up with

one that I liked. So I left it an open loop, but it always bothered me because it was always something

which I started to go back to. Because we talk about culture, we have to be a little bit more

specific and say, what we're talking about is what are Christians call to impact the world around them?

Yes.

So for instance, politics is downstream from culture.

So everybody runs to politics is the big issue and you'll see it now.

You'll see election cycles.

They get excited about it.

But politics is the spoils of another

fight. And it's what's on the campuses and what's in arts. So if you look at what's in

education and what's in the arts community and entertainment, that is going to shape the culture

downstream in terms of political development. Because the politics, one guy said, think of it like an

empty suit that's going to be filled with the person that matches the demographics of what the voters

want. What shapes the voters? Culture. What shapes culture? Academia and entertainment to a great degree.
