This is Doctrine and Covenants 84, The Power of Godliness.

And I am so happy for this one today.

It's so great. I'm not reading any comments or anything because

we have to get on, we have so much time and so little to do. Strike that. Reverse it. Do you realize that

section 84 has 120 verses? So that's a lot to get through, but I'm going to stick with the manual. Because I really

believe that the verses they pick and the sections they pick for come follow me are the things

that the Lord wants us to learn right now. So please, if you want to learn more of the history,

if you want to go through every verse, do that yourself, go to other resources.

But I'm going to stick with what is in the manual because there's so much good stuff.

So let's get started.

Basically, what is happening when this revelation is received is that it's been about a year since Joseph Smith sent out a bunch of

missionaries and they're starting to come back. And he gets this revelation on the priesthood over a two-day

period after they have been listening basically to the reports of these people coming back. And I wish I could have

everybody raised their hand and tell me why they think that this section all about the

priesthood was given as people were returning home from their missions. I think it was because

Heavenly Father was saying, just remember, this is me, not you.

The people who are being converted are being converted because of the power of the Holy Ghost,

because of the office that you are called to as missionaries, because of the priested power.

That is what is causing these conversions and miracles.

Not that Joseph Smith didn't know this and that the people maybe didn't know this,
