the second novel in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Without any ado whatsoever, let's get started with our first segment, the sorting chat.

So I want to talk about reproductive rights and reproductive health care.

A few weeks ago, maybe a month or so ago now, of our listeners karenosaurus

tweeted at us and asked us what we thought

the reproductive health care situation was like

in the Wizarding world.

And at the time, I couldn't really think of any specific examples of why it would be particularly positive.

But I've given it a lot of thought. It's been on my mind a lot lately because of various poster campaigns and inappropriate protests on campus, etc.

And I have to say that I think that the novels give us a lot of information that allow us to draw conclusions about what the reproductive right situation is in the Wizarding world.

So first of all, I want to talk about the Weeslies, because the

Weeslies are an anomaly. There are seven children, and we know that the Weeslies continued to have children until they had a girl.

Jenny Weesley is the last child and if you've seen all of the movies you know that one of

Ron's anxieties is that he's the least loved

son because he's the last son that they had before they had a daughter.

And at first when I was thinking about this question, I was thinking about how the

Wieslies had so many children and so maybe that was evidence for the fact that

there are not a lot of reproductive health care options for witches in the wizarding world.
