So William Bill Millen was born in 14 July, 1922 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Scottish parents.

When Bill was three, they moved back to the Scottish motherland when his father decided to become a policeman in Glasgow.

He joined the Territorial Army, which is kind of like their version of reserves in Fort William, Scotland and played the pipes in the Highland Light Infantry
