2021. I've had a great day today. I'm in an excellent mood. The weather's been awesome here all week and I got up this morning hoping that Tesla was going to reveal their production and delivery numbers for Q1 so that I could get them

1:05.5

into my notes and tell you about them for this week's episode before I record, which is here

1:10.4

on a Friday night.

1:12.2

And sure enough, Tesla did post them first thing in the morning

1:15.4

here on April 2nd and the news was all good like wow it's good news holy cow it's good news. Holy cow, it's good news. So let's get right to it.

Tesla just delivered in the first quarter of 2021, 184,800 cars. In what is, I remind you, historically, Tesla's slowest quarter ever is, you know,

2:17.0

again compared to 180, 570, so Tesla more than doubling year over year production by a pretty healthy margin in fact

2:29.5

Clearly we can infer number one that the two-day shutdown at Fremont that they had to endure

2:36.8

due to a part shortage in the wake of the Texas ice storms didn't slow them down too much.

2:43.4

Or we could look at it another way and say

2:46.2

that if that two day slowdown, two day stoppage,

2:49.2

I should say, had not happened,

2:51.5

deliveries might have projected out to about 188,500 or so, since if you do the math,
