I was actually shocked that the conservatives hated this movie because you could have a very,

very conservative reading of this film. Again, it's made clear that Barbie is not a woman

for all this movie until the end where she gets a vagina. That's when Barbie actually becomes

a real woman. No a bomb pack and Greta Girl would do not know what they're doing. Okay, they're not

smart people, they're not sophisticated people, their friends are not sophisticated, and a lot of

this movie is dumb.

Faith. Oh, thank you so much for having me. Okay, so I finally did it last night. I went to a

drive-in movie theater in Cape Cod to watch a double screening of both the Barbie movie and

legally blonde, which created an interesting pairing that maybe we'll get into later in the show.

And I have thoughts, feelings and opinions. I wanted to talk to both of you about this movie,

and I want to set it up by asking this first. I'm going to go to UK. What do you think this movie

was trying to accomplish and didn't do so successfully? I think it was trying to accomplish

advertising a toy. And yeah, I think it did so successfully. What about you Leslie?

It was trying to accomplish the same thing. It was an advertisement for a toy. It was not a story

even about the character, Barbie. It was literally an ad for Mattel. It was like trying to make us think

that Mattel is a good thing and addressing all of Mattel's haters. And I do not think it was

successful because I think people on the whole would probably prefer just a movie about Barbie.

That's actually about Barbie, the character that they imagine that this person is, Barbie,

as opposed to the literal toy. It would be like the Transformers movies, right? They're not about

toy Transformers. They're about the Transformers in the real world. Now say what you will about
