Susan Ann Swadell was a 19-year-old from Lake Elmo, Minnesota.

She was introverted and very artistic.

On January 19, 1988, Sue was on her way home from work when her car overheated.

She pulled into a gas station.

A few minutes later, Sue got picked up.

She was never seen again.

Unfound has covered quite a few disappearances where there are signs that the missing person was set up.

And most of the time, it deals with a concept called luring.

Some examples, Tyler North, he was surely lured by his ex-wife to meet her at a park for sex.

Tyler then was murdered by her and her boyfriend.

Stephanie Hartwell was surely deceived into getting into a car with a frenemy,

who was most likely working on behalf of a guy whose Stephanie was avoiding.

And Jeff Nichols, his ex-wife knew he could not pass up a free set of golf clubs.

Jeff went to get them and never returned.

None of these victims could have ever suspected that they would become the centers of investigations

that are still unsolved all these years later.

But in looking at the diversity of just those three, you the listeners should know that this can happen to anyone.

Well, with Sue Swadell, we are certainly looking at a suspect who had a plan.

But you cannot call it luring.

It's one that has a lot more variables than those others.

But somehow it worked.
