Summary

http://www.tropicalmba.com/spain/ Not all of us came out of the womb wanting to start a business. Some of us were attracted to the personal agency and the freedom of being an entrepreneur. This week's guests all have a few things in common. They all had this similar dream of the freedom that comes from quitting their jobs and starting their own businesses, and all three of them have chosen Spain as their home for that journey this summer. Barcelona has recently become kind of a hotbed for the entrepreneurial community. I reached out to Chris Reynolds, Cristina Ansbjerg and Robert Brandl to get some insider info about what it's like to live in the city and why they have all fallen in love with it.

Welcome to the podcast where we talk about lifestyle businesses.

1:06.9

A term, I think, often misunderstood and a little unfairly treated in the blogosphere,

1:12.0

lifestyle businesses, they don't necessarily need to be small.

1:15.0

It just means that the owner, that's you and me, gets to set the tone for what goes down

1:21.0

in the business.

1:21.8

That means the business can serve you too and not the other way around.

So I've met lifestyle business owners that have

1:28.3

$10 million in sales a year, right? They don't have investors. They don't have anybody that they

1:32.8

need to answer to except for their own clients. And those are the clients and customers that

1:36.9

they've chosen. And they're not necessarily maximizing just for money. You know, maybe they could

1:42.8

improve the amount of profit that they were making if they opened up another business that does the same thing in Europe or in Asia. And they're just like, you know what?
