On this episode of Newt's World, the issue of critical race theory has now taken hold

in the United States military and I have to say I find it perplexing. My father served for three

decades in the US Army and I grew up understanding the military is about forming a bond, a unit,

a team working towards the same goals and protecting each other while achieving it.

So you can imagine my shock when I started to learn how seriously the leaders of the Pentagon

were starting to integrate critical race theory in their curriculums. In fact,

a professor at the US Air Force Academy, Lynn Chandler Garcia, wrote in a Washington Post

op ed quote, I teach critical race theories to our nation's future military leaders because

it is vital that cadets understand the history of racism that has shaped both foreign and domestic

policy and has marked every subind and as we quote, finding such warped content in today's

liberal college classrooms is not surprising. The finding of US Air Force Academy is unacceptable.

I couldn't agree more. So I've invited to discuss critical race theory in the United States military,

a great guest, Dakota Wood. He served two decades in the United States Marine Corps,

retiring as a lieutenant colon, and he is currently the senior research fellow for defense programs

at the Heritage Foundation. Dakota Wood, thank you for joining me. It's a great pleasure.
