I had something occur in my life recently. I discovered that something I thought to be very true

for many years, something that I would have bet money on turned out to be false. I found out the

truth after the fact. I wish I could tell you more about it, but it involves a case that will

eventually be covered on Unfound. And trust me, you'll get the whole story when we get to that point,

but I can't do that right at this second. But as you've probably experienced as well,

it's very strange to be so sure of something, then find out you weren't correct at all.

It can change your worldview in an instant, especially if the topic is something very personal

as mine was. This is the situation we have in the disappearance of Ashley Kohler.

And this episode is a good one for parents out there, especially ones who have daughters.

Because today's is one where a mother raised her daughter the right way.

Took the time to homeschool her, got her involved in activities and groups, gave her the

direction that Ashley's birth mother couldn't provide. But it wasn't until after the fact that she

discovered Ashley had been covering many things up, things that she never could have imagined

Ashley doing. And she still doesn't have answers as to why it all happened.

And now summary of the case. Ashley graduated high school in Corona, California in May 2007.

At this time, Ashley was dating a boy who seemed to have an effect on her self-image.

She started acting and dressing very differently. With the culmination of this being frequent

clashes with her mother, to the point that Ashley disappeared for a couple days while they were
