story yeah okay great let's jump in. In early June of 2019,

38-year-old Micah Honan was preparing his boat called the Gillyhammer, ready to go out on an

overnight fishing trip off the coast of Calandra in Queensland, Australia, with his seven-year-old

son Julian and his best friend, 48-year-old Stephen Jaycock.

Micah was very close with his son, Julian, and being out on the ocean together was their

favorite thing to do. Micah had spent much of his life on the water. After leaving school in

Germany, he joined commercial fishing boats in the North Sea before crossing the Pacific to work

on big prawn trawlers, which are just

like other commercial fishing vessels. But this day, he was just going to be a dad watching his son

fish. Julian loved fishing, just as much as his father, which made the whole thing all the more sweet.

The first time Julian had a fishing rod in his hand was well before his first

birthday. He'd practice how to cast the line as a tiny baby. He could fish before he could walk.

That's crazy. Yeah. One afternoon, they were on the beach and Micah checked one of the rods

because he thought he had a bite and as he looked back, he could see that there was a bite on the rod, and Julian was sitting in front of it.
