This week, we turn to the life and legacy of the first of Japan's three unifiers: the warlord Oda Nobunaga, who expanded his domains from part of a backwater province to 1/3rd of all Japan in just a few decades. Who were the Oda? Where did they come from? And how did Nobunaga go from a nobody to a major force in Japanese politics in just a few years?

1:23.1	This week, I want to take the time to start a story I've been working towards for a while now.
1:29.9	You see, we've done episodes on two of Japan's three great unifiers who helped bring an end to the Sengoku Wars,
1:36.9	Toyotomi Hideoshi and Tokugawa Iayasu, but we've only dealt peripherally with the first of the three unifiers,
1:41.1	the man who set the stage for Japan's eventual reintegration as a state.
1:46.7	Recently, I've had an excuse to do something of a deep dive on this period, deep enough that actually I think I might revisit the other two unifiers at some point, but right now,
1:51.1	I want to turn our attention to a man who helped shape Japan into what it is today,
1:56.0	the first unifier, Oda Nobunaga.
