0:31.9	And today, we're going to tell another one of those crazy deals that Bobby Baker got himself into. It's one of my favorites.

0:46.1	Baker affair. Shriver aptly labels this meat for the poor people of Puerto Rico. You know, if you're an optimist in life and you truly
0:57.0	believe that there is at least a little good in most people, even greedy people, even just your
1:04.0	everyday capitalists, and by the way, I do count myself in that latter category too. I am a capitalist at heart.
1:12.3	Well, then you might believe that the story of the Haitian meat deal,
1:16.6	the story that we are about to tell,
1:18.8	begins with solving the problem of a basic human need.
1:22.7	A mission formed originally to obtain more affordable food,
1:30.9	meat, that is, for the poor people of Puerto Rico.
1:33.6	That's right, but here's the thing.
1:41.6	Once you understand the players involved, you know that it's less about that and more about the money.
1:47.8	As a capitalist, there is nothing wrong with that per se. A win-win,
1:55.9	as it is commonly referred to, except the only problem with this kind of win-win is that the one side of this kind of win was obtained through influence peddling at its finest. And to top it off, there is something
2:05.4	about this meat deal that smells, well, rotten, as if it eventually took on a life of its own
2:13.1	and as a result might also have been used to simply continue to funnel more money to Bobby Baker.
2:20.4	More money from the Murchison family.
2:23.5	And who knows why that money kept coming or where its ultimate destination went to.
