Traditionally, as we've heard so many times on this podcast, because we're in season six,

this is, in some ways, the symbolic beginning of the summer.

I got a text yesterday from my brother Dennis.

A couple of times a week, he sends his favorite pick of the day.

And over this Memorial Day weekend, he sent a picture that included himself and me and my son.

All three of us last year, just about this time, give or take a couple of weeks.

It was the early part of June.

We trekked across the Atlantic, spent a few days in Paris,

and then went down to the Normandy Coast to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landing and to spend time engulfed in the history of that world event.

I had a couple of hot dogs yesterday, just as everybody does, I guess,

or at least whatever their favorite comfort food is,

enjoying ourselves on a long weekend.

But then as we settled in for a night of watching television, What popped up for us to watch right away was

some specials on the Smithsonian Channel about World War II. I've seen a lot of footage and

looked at a lot of history, but I'll tell you, the special weekend and tribute to World War II
