And unfortunately, we lost a great man in the metal world, Mr. Johnny Z.

So we're going to remember him on this episode and take a listen back to our interview with him from August of 2020.

Yeah, we were lucky enough to, we actually got a call from, or an email, I believe, from his manager at the time who reached out to us saying that he wanted to talk to us about his book,

which is called Heavy Tales with Johnny Z. For those of you joining us for the first time,

Ethan and I are professional musicians. We get together every week to talk about our favorite

metal band, The Mighty Metallica. And this was about a year and a half ago that his manager reached out to help us promote his book.

He passed away on February 1st, age 69, and he was the founder of Megaforce Records,

which he found that, I believe, because of the No Life to a Leather demo.

The cassette made its way to him.

I think maybe Brian Slagel had sent it to him.

And he loved the band.

He started Megaforce, and he would go on to book their first tour with Raven.

He brought him out to New York.

He put him up in his house, which, according to some lore, they trashed while they were there. He got him hooked up with the anthrax boys when their gear got stolen, put out

Kilmall and Ride the Lightning.
