Summary

This interview was a long time coming. I’ve wanted Laura Wright of The First Mess to be a guest since I started the podcast, but we held out and waited – and now it’s time. And it just happens to coincide with the reveal of a new, special something she’s been working on. Believe me, it’s a big one.

Laura and I talk her big news, learning to communicate better in long-term relationships, knowing what your audience wants, and putting your energy into projects that are truly beneficial to you (no working for free). We also talk Canada-things, like Drake and his lint rollers.

So over on the site this week, I did a post about being in a funk.

And this winter, Mother Nature, really was a little bitch to me and really just made me feel bad.

0:42.9

I had this moment where I looked at the mirror and just thought, who are you?

0:49.2

Like, I just didn't feel like I recognized, I mean, not like in some sort of psycho way. I saw myself as a

0:56.6

different person in some horror film, but I just didn't feel like I was looking at the self that I

1:02.3

wanted to be or the self that I usually feel. I thought my hair was gross, my clothes are disgusting,

1:08.8

I looked like a, just a chub muffin. I just felt bad.

1:14.0

And as much vitamin D as I took and as many kale smoothies as I drank, it just didn't really

1:19.9

get me out of my funk until I really just sat down and thought about what is making me feel this

1:26.7

way. And I came to some conclusions.

1:30.0

I started working on those things and I'm in the clear. I'm out of the funk. I mean,

1:36.2

I might have like a 1% funk left, but it's, I'm feeling so much better. So that post is on

1:42.9

my site right now. If you are feeling any sort of funkness, head over

1:47.7

there, check it out. Let's have a conversation about it because I think unless you lived in a warm place,

1:54.6

I think everyone experienced a little funk this year. And maybe even if you lived in a warm place,

1:59.4

check that out. Along the same lines as

2:02.4

that post, I am going to do the Claire Ragazzino cleanse. She was a guest on the podcast.

2:11.7

She's a friend of the podcast. She was on episode number two. I'm really excited about it because that one percent of funkness I feel

2:19.4

I think it's going to go away when I do this cleanse. It's not some crazy juice cleanse.
