I'm like super excited to be joined with Dr. Kim Gets. And we're going to discuss some blue whale conservation work that she's been involved with here in New Zealand, which I'm really excited to finally meet another conservation expert here. But welcome, Kim.

Oh, yeah. I was so excited when you said, yeah, I'll come on and do an interview.

I've been really pumped for this one. No problem. So for the listeners, I would like to ask first, you know, just kind of give us a brief background, you know, where you grew up and, you know, would you do some of your graduate work? Yeah, so I grew up in Denver, Colorado, which does not have an ocean,

so you can see the I was in. I couldn't afford to go out of state for undergrad, so I did do my

undergraduate degree in Boulder in biology, and then worked in various conservation projects at the university, primarily with insects,

and then I decided to go do my master's degree and got accepted into a conservation lab at Duke

University in North Carolina. And yeah, so I worked on, mostly on beluga whales in the Arctic for that.
