Summary

It’s that time again - the 2025 Hobby Progress Challenge is here, and we’re diving headfirst into all the details on this episode. Chelle, Adan, and Carl sit down to go over the rules of this year’s challenge, how it’s tracked, and what makes it such a fun and motivating way to tackle that pile of shame. Whether you’re painting for glory in the Emperor’s name or fueled by the whispers of Chaos, the HPC is your chance to stay focused, productive, and inspired all year long.

We’ll also hear directly from our community. Listeners who took part in last year’s challenge share how the HPC helped them hit their goals, what they learned along the way, and what they’re looking forward to this time around. Their stories remind us that while prizes and painted models are great, it’s the camaraderie and encouragement that truly keep the brush moving month after month.

Of course, we’ll be talking about the prize support too - because what’s a challenge without a few epic rewards along the way? With fantastic sponsors stepping up again this year, every month of progress not only builds your army but also earns you entries into our prize drawings.

The 2025 Hobby Progress Challenge officially kicked off on September 1st, but it’s never too late to join in. Tune in October 1st to hear how it all works, get inspired by your fellow hobbyists, and take the plunge into a year of painting, progress, and shared passion for Warhammer 40K.

Hey, I sees, it's Raff or Captain Raffy, if you're on the Discord. I wanted to chime in with my

0:05.3

HPC experience last year. Overall, it was pretty awesome. Carl and crew, I really appreciate

0:11.1

you working on that in shell, in particular, all of the administration. It did a lot. It was the

0:16.4

most consistent painting I've ever done in my decade plus of painting minis. It was huge for motivation.

0:24.4

I find the hardest part about painting is getting started on the project and then those last few

0:30.8

details and like the kind of the grind at the end. And the HPC was kind of perfectly situated to help me with both of those.

0:39.2

Like knowing even the chance at a price, like the little checking the box that I got it done

0:44.4

for the month was huge to get me to sit down and put in two or three nights for those first

0:49.1

few weeks instead of maybe one.

0:50.3

And once I'm painting two nights a week, I can keep painting two nights a week,

0:59.2

three nights a week, much easier than if I'm kind of stopped and start. My big project for last year was a heavily kit-bashed Age of Sigma Army for a narrative event I went to. And it really

1:05.7

pushed me in those early months to get paint on and keep pushing, which made the crunch,

1:10.4

because the crunch was still inevitable, a lot easier to get through at and keep pushing, which made the crunch because the crunch

1:10.8

was still inevitable, a lot easier to get through at the end. Same thing, knowing I had a month

1:16.0

to check the box and I had to finish this, just help me stay up one extra hour later or maybe

1:20.7

not go to bed when I didn't need to and really kind of burn away those excuses. So really

1:26.2

appreciate it. I thought it was great for getting me going.

1:29.4

Same 2025 into 2026. I don't have a major army this time, but it's already getting me to sit down a

1:36.0

little bit. I finished a blood bowl team for the first month. And that's what I'm really looking

1:39.7

forward to is just that steady progress, that extra little bit of motivation, just enough extra

1:45.9

juice to keep going.

1:48.1

So again, for the entire ICs crew, I really appreciate it.
