episode 265 are two founder members of a much loved Liverpool band who played a

pivotal role in revitalizing the city's music scene in the 2000s

scoring a string of hit albums and singles in the process.

As this episode lands in your feeds, they've just released their long awaited fourth studio album, The Big Decider, produced by Ian Brody and Nyle Rogers.

It's their first in 16 years and take it from us it was definitely worth the weight.

We are delighted to welcome the Zooton's frontman Dave McCabe and drummer Sean Payne to the show.

We visited Dave's home in Liverpool a few weeks back and had a great chat with him and

Sean didn't we?

We did, yeah, always fun to speak to fellow scousers.

It is and they're both lovely fellows and made us feel very

welcome and it was just a really nice relaxed conversation as you'll hear shortly.

Yep I think I am more scous when I'm talking to fellow scousers.

Me too.

The Zutons formed in Liverpool in the very early noughties,

prior to which Dave had been a member of Tramp Attack

while Sean had played with bassist Russ Pritchard

in The Big Kids, with Sean's brother, Howie Payne.

With a name inspired by Captain Beefhart guitarist Zuthorn Rollo,

the band was originally composed of Dave, Sean Russ,

and guitarist Bojan Chaudry, with saxophonist Abbey Hardin completing the lineup a short while later.

According to Ian Brody in his recent memoir, Abbey was very much the missing piece of the puzzle when it came to the band.
