Hey friend. Welcome to the Renaissance English History Podcast, a part of the Agora Podcast Network and the original Tudor History podcast telling stories of

0:21.3

Tudor England since, what, 2009?

0:24.4

I just done a brain fart there.

0:26.7

Hi, I am here host, Heather, and I'm a storyteller who makes history accessible because I

0:31.9

believe it's a pathway to understanding who we are, our place in the universe, and being

0:36.0

much more deeply in touch with our own humanity.

0:40.9

Today we are talking about, well, today we are doing another one of those fun year in the life episodes.

0:48.7

I really enjoy doing these because there is a fabulous resource that the Folger Shakespeare Library puts out

0:55.9

Folgerpedia where they go through, it's just an Elizabeth's reign, unfortunately, but I mean

1:01.4

that's what they have, so I'm not going to knock it. But it goes through day by day for various,

1:08.0

for like every year, I think. I think if you Google like Folgerpedia, Elizabeth's

1:12.5

rain day by day, you get this. And so you can download the notes and, you know, all the different

1:19.0

correspondence, everything that was going on day by day. It's an amazing, amazing resource. And so I really

1:25.6

enjoy kind of going through and looking at a year in the life.

1:30.2

1:37.2

I have to say personal share, he responded to a letter that I wrote to him, a piece of fan mail,

1:43.9

gosh, back in 2000, I think,

1:46.0

because I had read his notes from a big country, or I think in the U.S., it's called I'm a

1:53.4

stranger here myself. It's when he moved back to the U.K. or when he was living in the U.S.

1:58.7

and, like, the different cultural things things he saw. Anyway, I'm really

2:01.8

digressing here. He has a book called, I think it's 1927, where he just looks at one year in

2:07.8

American history and everything that was going on in that year. And ever since I read that book,
