who as this episode hits your feeds have just graced us with their excellent sixth studio album

Real Power. It's their first long player in 12 years produced by none other than Rick Rubin

and recorded at his studio in Hawaii.

We're very happy to welcome Gossips Beth Ditto and Nathan Howd Show to the show.

Beth, Nathan or Brace Payne as he sometimes known and the band band's original drummer Kathy Mendonce, met as teenagers in CSC Arkansas

and formed their gossip, as they were then called, in 1999, after all three had relocated to the

northwest and were living together in Olympia, Washington.

With their blend of blues, garage and punk and Beth's strong, soulful vocals, they swiftly

made an impact on the local scene, playing basement parties, and built a devoted fan base amongst the college crowd.

Wasting no time, they quickly issued their first self-titled EP on the Kay label

and went on tour as the Support Act for our recent guests, Slater Kinney. This boost in their national profile

led to them being snapped up by Kill Rock Stars, through which they released their full-length

debut, that's not what I heard in 2001. Meantons had departed the band following the release of 2003's movement to train as a midwife

and was replaced on the drum stool by Hannah Blyley, who remains with the group to this day.
