Welcome to another episode of Gleeman and the Geek

I am Aaron Gleeman

and that was actually my best John bonus impression because this is a special episode of Gleeman and the geek. There's no geek. Well, I mean, I guess I'm still the geek, but there was no THE geek this week because John called me this morning. He basically called in sick. So he wasn't feeling well. He didn't work today. He didn't do his usual KFA and radio thing. Wasn't feeling well enough to do the podcast. And so, well, we can just skip a week. That's no big deal. And then I thought, we don't have to skip a week, right? I mean, we've done, what have we done? 25, 26 of these in a row. We got a pretty good streak going. And I know as a podcast listener for all these other podcasts that I listen to,

I hate it when they take a week off.

And really, you know, if we want to be the Cal Ripkin Jr. of podcasters,

you can't just take a whole week off just because one of us is not feeling all that well.

And John, I asked him, he gave me permission, his blessing to attempt one of these on my own.

I view it as he's sort of the Joe Maurer of the podcast now. Wasn't feeling 100%. He took his name out of the lineup. And I can respect that. I mean, you want to be at the top of your game when you're putting yourself out there. But I'm going to be the Michael Cadire of this podcast. I'm going to play through the pain. I'm going to keep myself in the lineup no matter what.

And most likely not going to perform all that well, but I'll still be in there. I guess I'll leave

that up to you guys to judge. I mean, do not feel guilty if you want to fast forward through this or if you

want to just turn it off and delete it. I have no idea how this will go. I'm certainly not an experienced monologue giver. And I was thinking

about, before I hit record on this, I was thinking of all the 30 or 40 podcasts that I listened to.

How many of them is just one guy or one woman basically given a monologue and I could barely think of maybe two or three

of them and the only reason I have any sort of confidence in my ability to make this at all

listenable is that recently there's a comedian named Bill Burr, a stand-up comedian and I recently

started listening to his podcast and it's great and it's 90% of the time or 99% of the time it's

just him talking for an hour by himself and you know now that I think about it he of course has 25 years
