"The mother cannot devote herself too much to [nature] reading, not only that she may read tit-buts to her children about matters they have come across, but that she may be able to answer their queries and direct their observations. And not only the mother, but any woman who is likely ever to spend an hour or two in the society of children, should make herself mistress of this sort of information; the children will adore her for knowing what they want to know, and who knows but she may give its bent for life to some young mind designed to do great things for the world." Today we are going to be discussing how Mason changes our lives.

0:46.0

We usually read Mason and think of all of the ways that will change our children's life

and we kind of forget that in the process of our study to help our

children she changes us to. So we thought we'd take a break from discussing the various

subjects in the Mason curriculum and pause and discuss how Mason affects mothers

1:05.0

and what wisdom we can glean from her.

1:08.0

So let's talk about first why we even need to spend time

1:12.0

developing our own knowledge? I think because we were born

1:17.2

persons just like our children and God made us to want to know.

1:23.7

And we may have forgotten that in our busy lives,

1:27.3

but God says that the wise person pursues knowledge

1:31.8

and instruction. We wouldn't dream of sending our child to be

1:36.8

taught by an ignorant person and so it's imperative that we also feast on all these delectable things that our children are getting.

1:48.0

You know, it's true we can teach without having a degree in education but if we want to inspire our children

1:56.2

to pursue knowledge they need to catch some of that from us I think.

2:01.5

How do you think about that, Nicole Nicole I agree with you completely because as I get

2:05.5

excited about things we're learning in history or geography or science then my kids

2:11.8

just pick that up and they start getting excited about it too.

2:17.4

So there's so many times that we are both learning the same thing at the same time.

I am not their teacher, the books are their teacher, but I'm
