Shoulders of Giants, Lysander Spooner.

Last Saturday, January 19th, 2013,

marked the occasion of the 205th birthday of Lysander Spooner, or as he is more commonly

known amongst most of the American and indeed the world public. Lysander who?

Yes, unfortunately we have as a civilization devolved to the point where we not only revel in our delight of knowledge of pop culture trivia,

but we also revel in our ignorance of the intellectual

giants that have preceded us much to our detriment, because although I'm sure we are all familiar

with the dictum that those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it,

I wonder if we have truly, really internalized the meaning and implications of that statement

because it strikes me as absolutely self-evident that there have been

people in similar situations facing similar problems as we face today in previous

historical eras and our ignorance of those people how they dealt with

the situation and what they brought to the table is again to our detriment we are absolutely

very much possibly at risk for what we don't know and what we remain in ignorance about of our own free will because certainly there are an abundance of materials on many thinkers, including Lysander Spooner,

that it would best serve us to take a look at.

Because as I say, again, we are facing problems that have been faced by generations in the past and it is important that we understand how others have thought about these.
