Hello, it's Judy Fuddy alongside Liz Ozzowski. Hi Liz. Hey there Judy. Does that

happen to you all the time because it happens to me a lot. The last name especially

yes. Oh yeah, now I get Judy a lot. I said that's my mom but thank you. It's okay. Well

Judy Fuddy we are both excited for today's guests. We have a two-for-one

episode with U.S. Women's Hockey players Megan Duggan and Kendall Koyne and I know

the U.S. Women's Hockey team is near and dear to your heart and a big reason why is

their story is one that you can really relate to. Really, Liz? My love for them has no

bounds. I love everything about the USA Women's Ice Hockey team. What they fight for

what they represent, what they honor, who they are, not just as athletes but as people.

Before we start this episode, a little bit of context into how these women have managed to change

the culture and landscape literally and as we will see in the future the history of women's

ice hockey in this country and for so many young girls because they have done just that. It's a

model actually as you said I'm familiar with because we've gone through a lot of the same things. We

fought this similar fight in the 1990s with U.S. Soccer. They also tried, they'll mention

Kame Granado, a legend and friend, a legend of the women's ice hockey game who tried to wage

this fight in the 90s as well alongside us and was unable to do so and ended up I think getting

cut from the team in large part thanks to her role in that. Now you find these women almost two

decades later fighting the good fight and talking about how important a role Kame played in their

lives which warms my heart. When I say fight, I mean their eagerness to not just change the

pay structure which you hear so much about in today's present fight with U.S. Soccer but it's

about better support, better funding, better programming, more marketing, essentially more investment

in the women's game so that young girls growing up are able to showcase their talents to others.
