Our question this episode comes from our patron Michael B, who asks,

if we just replaced a blackfire with Targaryen, would we look at them differently?

Or Young Griff differently? Even if you overlook the grift of passing him off as a Targaryen,

if he is a secret blackfire, he's still a Targaryen, then. We are sympathetic with bastards like

John Snow as a Stark, but the Blackfire name has made their cadet branch more of an other in the

narrative. So that's an interesting question I thought with us, kind of bring up the blackfires and the golden company and that

offshoot of history in this particular chapter. So what do you think, Manu? Do we look at kind of

cadet branches of houses and bastards differently? Like John Snow kind of feels more like a sympathetic

underdog because he doesn't even have the name. Do you feel that way about the blackfires or does it work a little differently?
