Why do you think that the nonsense aspect of it is an actual attribute? First of all, they're talking about it. And so when we say the soup, it's about, I don't know what, five, six months later, everyone knows what we're talking about. Whether you like it or hate it, that's a thing that happened. Again, Rainbow Warrior stopped a whaling vessel. You're not going to remember that even a few weeks later, yeah.

So this is a thing. Whether you like it or not, it's a thing. Something has arrived in social space, right?

Whether you like it or not, an even Cleverclogs Professor Morton, who thought that this was straight out of the Professor Morton playbook for various reasons, was dumbfounded when it first, I thought, wait a minute, what, uh, what soup?

What did they do? And then I realized about two days later, oh, that was part of it.

Part of it was the confusion, which is, you know, like to draw attention to yourself, first of all,

that you have an aggressor coming towards you in the shape of basically incipient fascism, hopefully the last gasp of white supremacy and patriarchy on the planet, and Anglos around the world of effing up big time. You know, so here's this truck coming towards you. First thing you've got to do, you've got to pop the tyres out. Then they're paying attention. Then you can say the message. Second of all, Van Gogh might as well

have been painting with soup. He would have loved this action. He was basically pretty much enslaved

after his death by all those paintings that cost millions of dollars. And he didn't make a single

cent pretty much out of all of his stuff. He would have loved this. And that impasto kind of thing

that he does, he's painting with soup. And it's working with that edge between disgust and beauty,

which is actually ecologically very profound, because in an ecological age, beauty is always

going to have this little bit of a disgust fringe to it, because there's always going to be a

little bit more in your

picture than you want to include. We normally don't like to think about where the stuff

in the toilet goes. Unfortunately, it doesn't go away. It goes somewhere else on planet Earth, right?

And so ecological awareness means, you know, however beautiful it is, it's got a little edge of disgust, but we all know that like slightly burned rice pudding tastes more delicious than just plain.

Right. You've got to have a little tiny bit of death in your art, right? Like slightly burned toast, you know.

And then, you know, of course, the pictures were behind glass. No actual pictures were harmed.

And two days later, I thought, oh, right. Grownups like me are treating people like Phoebe and Anna,

much worse by dumping something on them that's much worse than soup all the time. It's called carbon compounds.
