Summary

On June 21, 1989, 15-year-old Monica Bennett and 14-year-old Michael Bennett vanished from an apartment complex in Brunswick, Ga. The information surrounding their disappearance is peculiar to say the least and now, over three decades later, there are still no leads and the case remains unsolved. If you have any information about their disappearance, please contact the Kingsland GBI office at 912-729-6198 or Glynn County Police Department at 912-554-7800.

Welcome back everybody. So today I'm going to be sharing with you the disappearance of Michael and Monica Bennett

0:33.9

Um, as you can tell it's just me today. Haley actually had one of our best friends Rachel in town to help out with the baby and just hang out and give her some, you know, normalcy and self-care time. So I decided just to let her have a little break and spend time with Rachel while she's in town. So today's case is just going to be me. So let's dive right in on June 21st, 1989 siblings 15

years old Monica and 14 year old Michael vanished from an apartment complex in Brunswick, Georgia. When they went missing Monica and Michael had no money, no belongings, no vehicle. So how could they just up and disappear? They couldn't not on their own volition.

1:27.3

The day they went missing, the siblings had been at Robert George's home helping him pack his apartment in preparation to move. Robert, who was Michael's biological father and Monica's stepfather, claimed that the children had been at the apartment when he left to go run some errands when he returned. They were nowhere to be found. He called their mother Deborah to see if she had seen the children and she hadn't.

1:52.9

Deborah and Robert were at that time currently separated, living in different homes, technically neither child even lived with the parents. After Robert and Deborah had separated, Monica went to live with her biological father and Michael went to live with his father's first wife and the mother of his half siblings.

Interestingly, Michael was born while his father and his first wife were still married but despite this, she welcomed Michael with open arms and treated him as one of her own.

So from what I can tell, Robert and Deborah met while Robert was still married and he did have two children with his first wife and eventually his first wife and he divorced and he did marry Deborah and then they went on to have four more children.

2:42.0

So they had Michael and then they had four little girls and then Michael would sometimes spend time with his father's first wife and his half siblings and like I said, she was very welcoming to Michael and treated him like her own son.

They also had an older sister, Sheila, who was born from Deborah and another man prior to Monica's birth.

There are some discrepancies as to when exactly the siblings went missing as well as what they were doing at the time of their disappearance.

3:15.0

Some reports state that they went missing on the 21st while others the 22nd but it doesn't appear that they were officially reported missing until many hours later around midnight on June 24th.

According to the other siblings, the apartment that they were supposedly helping Robert pack up was already empty.

4:47.0

Once the parents reported the siblings missing, they told police that they were runaways but that information did not sit right with their older sister Sheila.
