Andy McCarthy. Rich, how are you? Good, you took a couple weeks off.

Yeah, well I think I can now get through this yeah I can get through this now without either a coughing fit or

You know a mouthful of turkey one of the other yeah

Yeah, well the coughing fit thing has been going around. Oh boy it's

miserable I have to say it's miserable. So we have as we speak here as we record on Wednesday morning a continuing quote-unquote pause and Israel's war on Hamas in Gaza. Hamas has been releasing hostages, still has a lot of

hostages left, still a lot of cards to play. What's your take on the current state of things?

Well, I think I'm even more pessimistic

than I was at the beginning, and you know,

you'll recall, I was pretty pessimistic from the start

just because I didn't think Israel's stated war aims were achievable and I think now what has kind of overridden even you know some of my more basic concerns is that a lot of the war which is now more an aborted

military action than an actual war it seems to me, but it's been superseded not for the right reasons,

I think for cynical political reasons by mainly President Biden's domestic political agenda.
