Part of this is also, frankly, about the center left and also the U.S. left being incredibly

navel-gazing and not having global awareness.

Like, ask a Palestinian how they feel about PayPal and their content moderation practices

of the past.

You know, I always sort of say, like, if you've never

been part of an organization that's had your account frozen by PayPal, you're probably not

actually as much of a leftist. That's a thing that's happened? Paypal has shut down.

100%. PayPal has shut down. I remember when the Leonard Pell-Tier support committee had their

PayPal account frozen. Numerous Palestinian organizations have had donations frozen.

Palestinian organizations have experienced disproportionate censorship on social media platforms,

dominant social media platforms. There's a big campaign around that over the last number of

months led by Smeks and Hamla and Empower Justice and a number of other Muslim and Arab groups in the

U.S. and globally, we actually have data that shows that the most censored group of people on

social media is not conservatives or Republicans. It's Arab and Muslim folks who live outside

the U.S. whose speech is routinely censored by automated anti-terrorism filters

that often basically label normal religious speech, like just like a quote from the Quran or

something like that, as being terrorist propaganda. And so, like, this is the type of stuff that

we just don't talk about enough. The right is kind of off there whining and being like,

we're so censored.

And in a weird way, we've almost accepted that frame where they're like, yeah, they're the most censored. Like, ha, ha, fuck them. Yeah, and you should be. Exactly. They're actually not the most censored. Right. Black and brown activists. It's trans folks. It's Arab and Muslim folks. and predominantly it's sex workers.

And like,

that's, you know, the group that just is the most consistently ignored by the center left in the U.S. is sex workers who have been explaining how these social media moderation practices
