When Thangobrind the jeweller heard the ominous cough, he turned at once upon that narrow way.

A thief was he, a very high repute, being patronized by the lofty and elect,

for he stole nothing smaller than the mumu's egg,

and in all his life stole only four kinds of stone, the

Ruby, the diamond, the emerald, and the sapphire.

And as jewelers go, his honesty was great.

Now there was a merchant prince who had come to Thangibund

and had offered his daughter's soul

for the diamond that is larger than the human head

and was to be found on the lap of the spider- idol Hrollolo in his temple of Moon Galing,

for he had heard that Thangubrind was a thief to be trusted. That is the opening of the distressing tale of Thango Brands the

jeweller and of the doom that befell him. spoiler alert if you don't want

the ending of the story ruined for you, don't listen to what I just said.

And don't read the title.

Because it just gives everything away.

It does.

And this story was actually written by this fellow

named Edward Plunkett who is better known as Lord Dunseini. And Lord Dunseini just

happened to be one of H.P. Lovecraft's favorite authors. And it's good that we're talking about him

since this is the H.P.Lomcraft literary podcast.
