Summary
I was first contacted by today's guest, Ryan Schlosser, when he was preparing for his 2020 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail earlier this year. Ryan's mother is a friend of my friend and hiking partner, Pat Coate, or Tee Bird. Ryan's hike was a school project (imagine that!!) and he needed to record his progress. Pat thought I might be able to help him and a new podcaster was born.

I listened to his early progress, then stopped getting updates. He went radio silent in response to the growing pandemic. Eventually, when things eased up a little, he was back online and still heading north.

You can learn more about Ryan's story on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/walkingtalkingpod
on his website at http://www.ryanschlosser.com/
and at "Walking and Talking: An Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike" wherever you find your podcasts.

Bill Tickner is loving his southbound hike, and he is now through both Connecticut and New York, having savored the delis AND a drive-in movie.
Fozzie is preparing to drive back to Trail Days. First, though, he recalls the story of the Wapiti Shelter.

| 1:17.6 | into one. It's been quite a week but we've come through it and the house is at last taking shape. |
| 1:22.9 | However, there has been a casualty this week. In my main interview with this week's guest, Ryan Schlosser, he just couldn't hear me at all. As usual, I'd set myself up this time in my new closet, turned on the recording software, and I could see and hear Ryan. But my microphone just wouldn't work. It was plugged in. I didn't change the settings and I just couldn't work it out of what I done wrong. |
| 1:45.0 | In the end, I moved over to my iPhone headphones mic and, well, that isn't as good. |
| 1:49.3 | You can certainly hear the difference, but it doesn't really affect the interview. |

| 1:57.2 | I actually turned the microphone on. |
| 2:00.0 | Yep, the reason he couldn't hear was because my mic was switched off. |
| 2:03.1 | I don't like using my age as an excuse, |
| 2:05.0 | but I think we need to put this down to a senior moment. |
| 2:09.0 | Anyway, as I mentioned, Ryan Schlosser is today's guest, |
| 2:11.9 | and he has recently completed the AT this year, |
