Summary

DawgNation Daily -- the daily podcast for Georgia Bulldogs fans Beginning of the show: A look at a strong response by a Georgia staffer to what he calls "haters" of the program after UGA was named as the most-watched college football team of the regular season. I also explain why that news had me thinking of the Bill Belichick hire at North Carolina. 15-minute mark: I discuss why no one seems to ask the big question around five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry's decision to choose Texas over the Bulldogs last week. 30-minute mark: DawgNation recruiting insider Jeff Sentell joins the show. 50-minute mark: I take a look at other headlines including some thoughts on who should win this year's Heisman Trophy. 55-minute mark: I discuss why SEC commissioner Greg Sankey took some criticism for what many thought was a lack of congratulations for UGA after it won the SEC championship last Saturday. End of show: I award a Golden Shoe winner and share the Gator Hater Updater.

It is Friday. We've been pretty relaxed all week, kind of a post-SCC championship

0:20.5

cadence pre-college football playoffs, so we're a little bit of a holiday vibe around here. And on Friday today, I think we're going to be even more relaxed than normal. Just kind of, you know, having a good time. Still delivering, hopefully, a really good show. Obviously taking that seriously, but as every day, hopefully not taking ourselves too seriously. So just kind of hanging out here and just sort of talking a little bit. And let me give you a little bit of a

0:40.9

preview of what the next few minutes are likely to be. I'm going to start with one story,

0:45.8

make a little bit of a small point about that, and then use that story to build to another story,

0:52.3

which I do think is really interesting. And while it doesn't necessarily relate to Georgia, it sort of ends up being about Georgia. So let me deal with a couple of things going on the news right now and sort of try to find a way to sort of tie them both together. Let me start with this. Do you all know who David Cooper is, the Georgia staff? He's one of the most, I would say, outspoken guys around UGA on social media. He's really funny in terms of a high energy type of way.

1:14.1

He's always bragging about Georgia's recruiting wins. And he sort of exists as almost kind of like the hype man for the program a little bit, kind of hyping up all the good stuff that happens for UGA, which I think is kind of a cool thing. A lot of Georgia fans love interacting with him and kind of amplifying all the messages that he puts out.

1:29.4

Well, you may be interacting with him and kind of amplifying all the

1:28.1

messages that he puts out. Well, you may be aware that earlier this week, it came out that

1:32.7

Georgia was the most watched team in college football for this past year. Gigantic television

1:38.2

ratings for its biggest games here this year. I do think that's something to be proud of. I think

1:41.9

it speaks to Georgia's place in the sport right now.

1:44.9

And David Cooper, the Georgia staffer, was making sure, as he calls them, the haters to the Georgia program,

1:51.5

were very much aware of all of this. Let me just give you a couple of ex posts here just for fun from David Cooper.

1:57.4

So the graphic was that Georgia was America's most watched team of the regular season.

2:03.1

Now, Georgia this year averaged 8.6 million viewers per game. This according to Nielsen,

2:09.2

you know Nielsen as the ratings people. Used to have like Nielsen boxes. They don't do the boxes

2:13.7

on the TV sets anymore because the most part we don't have TV sets. But Nielsen still does the

2:19.6

ratings and 8.6 million. By the way, I love the graphic also as like the spider cam in it.
