I'm Renata. And I'm Kate. And this is our book year in review. Welcome. We're going to talk about our favorite books of 2023, which is the year that it currently is. Can you believe it? No. So we'll start with some ground rules in case this is your first best of episode.

So a lot of people's best books of the year list is only books published in that year.

But not us, baby.

We're rebels as anything we read in this year, no matter what year it came out.

Because backlist titles are good too.

Yes.

When we first started the podcast, we used to do our best and the worst of the year and mention

like the worst books that we read that weren't for the podcast.

But we stopped doing that because that's the whole rest of the podcast and who cares.

And also, just to let you know, we are going to be taking January off of the podcast so that maybe Kate can stop coughing if she has a full month to recover.

Maybe, we'll see.

Yeah, also just, you know, from the psychic damage that we incur over the year, just, you know,

just, you know, anyway, so this will be our last episode until February, at least on the main feed.
